Let the workout begin!

So I started working out this week... well I like to think my 7 hour cleaning stint on saturday was a workout, owing to the fact that I could barely MOVE the next day.

But Monday, I officially began working out. My aim is to workout at least 5 days a week. I will alterante days: 60 minutes of cardio -- 20 each on the elliptical, stairmill (like a stairmaster, but much harder with actual steps that you have to climb) and 20 on the treadmill at a high incline. In a few weeks I will also start following a suggested fitness plan for Kilimanjaro hikers.

Yesterday I managed 30 and then there was a fire alarm at my gym (go figure!) today I was up to 50 before I realized I was going to be uber-late for work!

I would also love to include yoga for breathing techniques-- might be good when the air gets thin!

If you have any suggestions- please comment, I can use all the help I can get.

Start the blogging blog!

Wow, I have never blogged before-- this is neat!

So I have decided to create this blog in honor of my trip to Africa this summer with my Mom and my friend Hilary.

I have another blog about applying to Business School in London. Yes, I am blog-happy in this blog-crazy, blog-eat-blog world. Ok shut up Caroline!

First step: I bought my hiking boots woo hoo! They are so cute- and I bought pretty red laces to go with them (yeah, I'm such a girl- but if I'm trekking up a mountain I want to be as conspicuous as possible-- if I can get away with wearing a traffic cone on my back I will!). Thank you to Hilary for teaching me how to do hyperlinks... thanks Hils!

I guess now that that is done I'll actually have to start going to the gym. Hiking 50 km's with a 30lb pack on my back might be a bit easier if my sorry ass can stay on the treadmill for a few minutes a day! I wonder if I should work out WEARING my hiking boots...hmmmmm?

I'm hoping that this blog will sort of be an online journal for all things Africa... so keep reading!
